As the fear of lost or unusable mobile data increases among mobile subscribers, Mobile Data Synchronization solutions will become an important part of any mobile operator's portfolio. By providing these solutions, operators can achieve increased customer loyalty and satisfaction, while generating additional revenues.


Part of the mSync suite, mSync provides users with the ability to seamlessly a nd transparently synchronize, backup and manipulate any data that has accumulated on their mobile handsets to a central server. In the event of an upgraded, lost or stolen phone, users can quickly restore all of their backed-up data, including:


  • Contacts - All contacts from the mobile address book are available on the network for viewing, editing and can always be restored to a new handset
  • Calendar - Manage, view and backup the mobile calendar on the network
  • Outlook Sync - A Plug-in enables direct synchronization with Microsoft® Outlook® Contacts and Calendar events. No cables or PC suites will ever be required.
  • Media - All pictures and video files taken with the handset camera are automatically saved on the network.
  • Media Sharing - Share pictures and video with friends through the myMedia network service or automatically upload files from the handset to any User Generated Content site such as Flickr® or Picasa®.
  • Messaging - All incoming and outgoing messages are stored on the network providing an archive of user's correspondence.


Additional Key Features

mSync supports a versatile set of advanced features including:

  • Fully Automated - The mSync service synchronizes handset data with the server without any user intervention. Synchronization can also be user-initiated, set by timers, handset events, customer care representatives, as well as via the web interface.
  • Zero Click User Experience - The mSync agent is downloaded fully configured and ready to go. No additional user interaction is required.
  • Device Independent Synchronization - Subscribers can backup any phone device and restore the data to any other device. The mSync service assures that data is restored correctly formatted - as if they were created on the target device.
  • Multiple Devices on a Single Account - for Dual SIM: Subscribers can connect multiple different devices to a single account. Each device will be loaded with appropriately formatted and fully synchronized data, without data loss or corruption.
  • Shared Group Address Books - Corporate users can create a company or department address book that automatically adds new members and updates member details in existing handset address books for all group members. Similarly, families or classmates can create their own shared group address book to be automatically updated and synchronized.
  • Remote Wipe-out - If the user's mobile handset is lost or stolen, the user can send a remote command, through the website or customer care representative, to wipe-out the data stored on the device and to lock the device from further use.
  • Network Address Book (NAB) and Network Calendar - Network Address Book and Network Calendar make the user's contact list and calendar available for additional services such as Voice Activated Dialing or a PC-based softphone.
  • OMA-DS - In addition to NewACT's highly optimized mSync protocol, mSync is fully compatible with the OMA-DS (SyncML) v1.1 and 1.2 standards.
